MUSCAT: The Research and Innovation Authority (RIA) hosted the EU-Oman Knowledge Exchange Meeting, under the theme "Bridging the Gap in Excellence: Overcoming Challenges in Scientific Exchange between the European Union and the Sultanate of Oman." The meeting aimed to enhance the strategic partnership and discuss ways to advance cooperation in the fields of scientific research and innovation.

The meeting witnessed the delivery of a series of specialised visual presentations. The first presentation addressed ways to enhance cooperation under the umbrella of the "Horizon Europe" programme, which is the European Union's largest framework programme for funding research and innovation globally, and reviewed the current state of cooperation and its future prospects. Meanwhile, the second presentation highlighted the academic opportunities and grants provided to the Sultanate of Oman by the "Erasmus+" programme, which is dedicated to supporting education and international academic and student exchange.

For its part, the Research and Innovation Authority delivered a visual presentation on preparing and identifying available opportunities for scientific exchange between the two sides. The programme also included another visual presentation reviewing the success story of a graduate who benefited from the "Erasmus+" programme.

The meeting featured diplomatic participation represented by a speech from the Italian Embassy, which emphasised the depth of bilateral scientific cooperation between the Sultanate of Oman and Italy.

The gathering concluded with an open discussion session and a networking meeting that brought together representatives of European Union countries and representatives of higher education institutions in the Sultanate of Oman to expand the horizons for joint cooperation. — ONA
